What is StudyBuzz?

StudyBUZZ is an online assessment tool that helps students focus their study time by taking the guesswork out of what to study. The StudyBUZZ program starts by having students answer provincial exam-type questions aligned to the prescribed learning outcomes (PLOs). StudyBUZZ then generates a personalized study guide that shows a student’s strengths and weaknesses. In areas of weakness, the answers to the questions are explained and worksheets of additional practice questions are provided. When studying is complete, students can retake the test.

How have teachers been using StudyBuzz?

Teachers have been using StudyBUZZ in a variety of different ways to help prepare their students for provincial exams. The most common method is to assign the tests near the end of the semester. After taking the StudyBUZZ assessments, students email or print and give their summary reports to the teacher.

Other teachers use StudyBUZZ during the semester by having students take the assessments before each unit exam.

Another interesting use of StudyBUZZ is to have students generate additional questions in the areas that have been identified as weaknesses. These questions then become part of a class review worksheet. This activity gives students an opportunity to reflect on and apply what they have learned.
